A british sommelier with a world of wine knowledge
I take wine seriously—myself, not so much. Expect expert knowledge, exceptional wines, and just the right amount of British humor to keep things interesting.

HI! I'm James
I had my first formal training as a sommelier in 1996 while working for Marriott Hotels, and I’ve been swirling, sniffing, and sipping my way through the world of wine ever since.
I started my journey in Burgundy, France, where I trained under a veteran Master Sommelier, refining my palate and deepening my knowledge of the craft. After that, I spent five years in London and Cardiff, working as a sommelier in some of the UK’s finest hotels, helping guests navigate the complex (and sometimes intimidating) world of wine.
But here’s the thing—I firmly believe that wine should be enjoyed, not overcomplicated. I love nothing more than teaching and tasting at the same time, guiding people through exceptional wines in a way that’s engaging, educational, and never pretentious. If you’ve ever been put off by wine snobbery, you’re in the right place.
I've called Fountain Hills home since 2021, after moving here with my wife, Dana and our 8 year old Boston Terrier, Lucy. I’m an extrovert by nature, you'll occasionally see me treading the boards at a local community theater, and if nothing else, you’ll get a proper British accent to go with your tasting. Oh, and a few laughs, too!
So, shall we raise a glass?
25+Years of Sipping, Swirling and Storytelling
From training in Burgundy to curating wine lists in London, my journey has been filled with exceptional bottles, unforgettable tastings, and a passion for sharing great wine without the fuss.
